Battery Storage

A battery is only worth what it lets you avoid buying. That depends on your evening demand, your tariff, the value of export and what you want the system to do in a power cut.

What good design looks like

  • Battery sized around real evening and overnight demand

  • Inverter and battery selected as a compatible ecosystem

  • Tariff strategy considered before the final design

  • Equipment positioned for access, ventilation, fire safety and noise

  • Backup scope stated explicitly — what stays on, and for how long

Do you actually need one?

Not always. It depends on your evening demand, tariff, export value, backup objectives and budget. We would rather say no than oversize.

Worth knowing

Battery cycling and degradation assumptions vary by manufacturer. Your proposal states the warranty terms and throughput figures that apply to the specific product quoted.

How we approach it

Capacity sized around real evening and overnight demand, with the inverter and battery selected as a compatible ecosystem.

  1. 01

    Start with the load profile

When you use energy matters as much as how much. Overnight demand drives useful capacity.

  2. 02

    Match the ecosystem

Battery, inverter, controls and monitoring chosen to work together and to stay supported.

  3. 03

    Model the tariff

Import and export rates can materially alter payback and the value of storage.

  4. 04

    Be clear about backup

Whole-home backup and essential-circuit backup are different products. The proposal should say which you are buying.
